Taking deposits without the hassle
Why a deposit protects your schedule, how much to ask, and how the money reaches you and your artist.

A booked date is only really booked once money has come in. A deposit protects your schedule: you don't turn down other inquiries for a customer who later backs out.
How much to ask
Most agencies ask 25 to 30 percent. Enough to be serious, not so much that a customer hesitates. In StageDesk you set the default percentage and can change it per quote.
When does the customer pay the rest?
Agree on a fixed moment, for example two weeks before the event. StageDesk sends the customer a reminder with the amount still open on that day.
How the money reaches you and your artist
With online payments the customer pays by iDEAL or card. After the event, and a short wait for any disputes, StageDesk splits the amount:
- the artist's share goes to the artist,
- the platform fee goes to StageDesk,
- the rest goes to your agency.
The split is fixed when the customer accepts the quote. If rates change later, that only applies to new bookings.
What if a customer cancels?
You can refund a payment fully or partly. If the money was already paid out, your share and the artist's are taken back proportionally.
Prefer offline? That works too: record the payment in the booking and StageDesk keeps track of what's still open.
